Latest information on media is that the team will be in Vancouver (not the venue) probably 14th... but things may change.

I don't know, but I really hope so. I think it has to be a very big part of the whole Olympic experience. But it's on the 12th so if she arrives on the 14th she will miss it.. Hope she will be there though.. Mao will arrive only a few days before the SP so she doesn't get too jetlagged.

I've convinced myself that the Olympics start the 14th, because figure skating starts that day, and I totally forgot the Olympics start on the 12th.



I hope to see Miki in the opening ceremony!

Well. up till now all the web news has said Miki won't attend the opening ceremony. but the tv-guides now say Miki will appear... though they might mean via video clips(?)....

Im really excited as well. The GP series, the Worlds etc are great every year but the Winter Olys are sheer magic for me. I'll be on pins and needles during Miki's SP and FS not to mention Mao's & Akiko's. Team Japan: 3 on the podium!! It can happen Yu Na not withstanding.

Yes, I did vote but I'd be rather happy if Miki stays dark horse, b/c she always did well when she was evaluated so.

BTW I had forgotten that in Olys the SP starting order is by full draw...
If it's as usual (that's 4 years ago LOL) Miki might even skate first (!) or dead last.
The draw is on 21st for ladies.

YuNa is by far favored in that poll & the Media but remember 2006 and 2002. Michelle, Sasha and Slutskya (sic) etc. were the favorites. This bodes well for Miki, Mao and Akiko. Team Japan: 3 on the podium. It can happen: say your prayers peeps.

The Reeds say in their blog that they will move to Vancouver on Thursday, so Miki and Nobu might be around the same. Nobu used to say "on 10th" which is a day earlier.
According to what's written at Miki Ando & Fans, the JSF said whether or not they participate in the opening ceremony will be decided by each skater who will consider his/her respective physical condition etc.

Thanks for posting. Wish I could read Japanese. I can see Miki centered on that podium. Am I being petty wishing Mao could practice on a rink that didn't have all those peeps skating on it? IMHO The JSF should ensure clear rink time during practice sessions so close to the Olys.

Very cool vid of Simsbury. Nice looking rink. Miki speaks good English and looks ready to shine in Vancouver.
